Local Maryland Honey

Simple, pure honey with local character.

Our traditional honey is harvested from thoughtfully managed colonies and bottled in small batches. Its flavor reflects the flowers, trees, gardens, and changing seasons of the local area.

From the Hive

Honey shaped by place and season.

Honey is a natural agricultural product. Its color, aroma, and flavor can vary depending on the nectar sources available to the bees during the season.

A lighter harvest may have a mild floral taste, while a darker harvest may be richer and more robust. Those differences are part of what makes locally produced honey distinctive.

Ballenger Creek Bee Company focuses on careful hive management, responsible harvesting, and preparing honey in manageable batches.

Enjoy It Your Way

A versatile staple for the kitchen.

Local honey can be enjoyed straight from the bottle or used as an ingredient in everyday meals and drinks.

  • Drizzle over toast, biscuits, pancakes, or yogurt.
  • Stir into tea, coffee, or homemade lemonade.
  • Pair with cheese, fruit, nuts, and baked goods.
  • Use in marinades, dressings, glazes, and sauces.
  • Substitute for other sweeteners in selected recipes.

A Natural Process

Real honey may crystallize.

Crystallization is a normal characteristic of honey and does not mean that the product has spoiled. Some honey crystallizes quickly, while other honey remains liquid for a longer period.

To return crystallized honey to a more liquid consistency, place the closed container in warm water and allow it to heat gradually. Avoid overheating the honey.

Honey Storage

Store honey tightly closed at room temperature in a dry location. Refrigeration is not necessary and may encourage crystallization.
